MOOTDECKPRIVACY POLICY · GDPRREV A

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal data we process when you visit mootdeck.com or use the MootDeck desktop application, why we do so, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We keep data collection to the minimum — the app itself runs entirely on your machine.

01Controller

The controller responsible for data processing within the meaning of the GDPR is:

Eduard Röhrig
c/o POSTFLEX PFX-581-999
Emsdettener Straße 10
48268 Greven
Contact: info@peranima.com

Emailinfo@peranima.com

02Website hosting & server logs

Our website is hosted on our own server (Contabo, located in Germany) running nginx. Each time the site is accessed, the server automatically records technical information in log files, specifically:

  • your IP address,
  • the date and time of the request,
  • the requested URL, and
  • your browser's user agent string.

We process this data solely to operate the site securely and to detect and prevent abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the security and stability of our service pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log files are rotated and deleted within 14 days.

03Waitlist

If you sign up for our launch waitlist, we store your email address and the timestamp of your signup. We use this data solely to notify you about the MootDeck launch and important product news.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. To confirm your subscription, we use a double opt-in procedure: a confirmation email is sent through Resend (Resend, Inc., USA — a participant in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework), which acts as our processor for this purpose.

You can withdraw your consent at any time — either by emailing info@peranima.com or by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you. Your data is deleted upon withdrawal, or once the launch-notification purpose has been fulfilled.

04The desktop app

MootDeck runs on your machine and does not send telemetry of any kind by default. The app performs a signed update check against https://mootdeck.com/updates/latest.json; as with any web request, your IP address appears in our server logs as described under point 2.

Your terminal content, notes, canvas layout, and any API keys you configure stay on your machine and are not transmitted to us unless you explicitly enable a feature that sends data out, such as hosted model calls you configure yourself or optional crash reporting described below.

04BEgress at a glance

MootDeck itself does not send terminal contents, notes, canvas layouts, or API keys to us. Network egress can still happen through the CLI tools you run, the signed update check, the waitlist, optional crash reporting, or hosted model calls you configure. A developer-readable matrix is available in the Security model.

05Crash reporting (opt-in only)

MootDeck includes optional crash reporting. If — and only if — you explicitly enable it in the app, crash reports are sent to our own self-hosted error-tracking instance running on our server in Germany. The feature is disabled by default. Crash reports are used solely to diagnose and fix crashes; they are not used for analytics, advertising, profiling, or tracking.

06Analytics

Our website statistics are generated by a self-hosted, aggregate analysis of the server logs described in section 2 — the site itself embeds no analytics script. This means: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no device fingerprinting. IP addresses are anonymized before analysis, and only aggregate statistics (page views, referrers, countries) are retained. Because no additional data is collected and no tracking technology is used, no consent banner is required.

07No cookies

Our website sets no tracking cookies.

08Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • the right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
  • the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
  • the right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
  • the right to object (Art. 21 GDPR), and
  • the right to withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@peranima.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for example, Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen (the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony).
